At New Directions, we offer, services that contribute to the well being of children, youth, adults, families and their community. Empowering People in the Community (E.P.C.) is one of the many programs offered by New Directions. E.P.C. is now accepting applications for Care Giver to support adults who have mental and/or physical disability.
Job responsibilities include: supporting people with disabilities through empowering individuals to engage in vocational opportunities, independent living, educational opportunities, as well as recreational activities.
Successful applicants must have the following education, skills, and abilities:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• First Aid (Emergency Level)
• Good problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• The ability to work independently and as a part of a team
The following are considered assets:
• Experience working with people with disabilities,
• Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (N.V.C.I.)
• Knowledge of American Sign Language (A.S.L.)
• Awareness of FAS/FAE, P.D.D., Asbergers and Autism.
Successful applicants will be subject to criminal record and child abuse registry checks
