Description of Position:
The successful candidate provides leadership and promotes excellence in family centred nursing care through the five main role components of expert practice, education, consultation, research and leader/change agent. Integrates nursing and medical skills and knowledge within a broad scope of advanced nursing practice. Assumes a leadership role in influencing clinical nursing practice and the provision of care. Integrates research into practice. Creates, utilizes and/or disseminate new knowledge.
The successful candidate will conduct environmental assessments (home, community, school) and help guide child/family through the treatment program. You will identify and link to services and resources in community, provide assistance with acquiring specialized equipment for children in the program and participate in planning for transition to adult services.
Qualifications:
As the successful candidate you hold a Master’s of Nursing or equivalent with a clinical focus. You have completed an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or are currently an APN Intern with evidence of working towards an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent. You are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, preferably within the RN (Extended Class).
You also have three to five years of clinical nursing experience in paediatrics, and experience within this specialty is required. You are a visionary and have proven your ability to provide leadership, act as a change agent, and foster teamwork and consensus. You are an innovative critical thinker with excellent communication, public speaking and problem solving skills. Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application is also necessary.

Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with their legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The practice involves working within the nursing program objectives, guidelines, and policies and procedures; building partnerships, completing community needs assessments; supporting inter-professional collaboration; and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects. Job description available on request. As this is a new position in the Region, incumbent will set-up and equip the office/exam room in the Clinic.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner program
Eligible for Registration with SRNA
Current certification in ACLS, ITLS will be considered an asset.
